Our Story

The Marten’s Barn is family-owned and operated by Joe & Dianna Markiewicz, who took ownership in
2023 from the original Marten’s Family. The barn was originally built in 1950 on a 33 acre dairy farm by
John F. Martens, who was also the local blacksmith in Waterford, Pennsylvania. He originally
immigrated from Germany to the land he called 'milk and honey’.

About The Barn

Originally built in 1950, the floor is constructed of steel-reinforced concrete originally for the safety of the dairy cows. The primary structure consists of custom hand-crafted beams that span over 65 feet. The chandeliers are suspended 33 feet on a pulley system just for our venue.

We can easily accommodate up to 300 guests with over 7,000 square feet of total usable space. Our heating system is rated at 1,000,000 BTU/hr., and nearly 40 tons of cooling capacity. The newly installed prep kitchen includes basin sinks, oven, stove, refrigerator and freezer, and over 20 feet of counter space!

Brand new (handicap accessible) men’s and women’s restrooms have been recently installed. The back lawn is carefully manicured for your outdoor wedding ceremony, where you will be amazed by the rolling hills and country views behind the wedding arbor. While relaxing on our back deck and patio, you’ll also enjoy the beautiful views of the crystal clear night sky.
